Windermere Grill

Windermere Grill attempts to tap local diners
Orlando Business Journal - April 21, 2006

Residents in the affluent area have to drive to West Colonial Drive or West Sand Lake Road to find a decent restaurant, Debler says: "And people can only eat so much pizza and Chinese food."

With that in mind, he opened Windermere Grill at 13424 Summerport Village Parkway in March.

However, Debler -- a second-generation restaurateur who brought his family's fine-dining style to the Mexico pavilion at Epcot nearly 25 years ago -- disdained the obvious menu choice. Despite his expertise with Mexican cuisine, the menu at the Windermere Grill is ethnically eclectic.

In fact, the only hint of Mexican cuisine in the restaurant is a junior version of queso fundido, a cheese fondue-style appetizer. In addition, guests may order Asian pot stickers, Thai-style nachos, a barbecue chicken pizza, Windermere burgers and daily fish specials such as artfully prepared perch topped with a crabmeat dressing. Desserts include creme brulee and apple cobbler.

The restaurant is closed on Mondays and open only for dinner the rest of the week, with the exception of Sunday brunch. The brunch costs $19 for adults and $11.50 for children, and features an antipasto bar, egg dishes, seafood, poultry, carved meats and a dessert bar.

Debler says he wants a menu people will want to eat from two or three times a week and never get tired of the food -- an obvious problem in sticking with a single cuisine. While he's attempting to follow the menu style of competitors such as Houston's, he says his prices are a notch or two below those brands, with dinner checks averaging about $25 per person.

The room has a feeling similar to its competitors with cherrywood accents, touches of slate, glass and brass, as well as the work of local artists, mixed with plenty of golf-themed memorabilia reminiscent of the original Sam Snead's restaurant in the MetroWest area.

Chiropractic, How does it work?

How Does It Work?

Chiropractic doctors practice natural, drugless, non-invasive health care and rely on the body's ability to self-heal. Sounds ideal, but just how does it work?

We look at the whole picture
Like other health-care providers, we follow a standard routine to gain information about the patient. We consult, review the case history, conduct a physical examination, and we may request laboratory analyses and/or x-rays.

Unlike other health-care providers, however, chiropractic physicians also conduct a careful analysis of the patient's structure and pay particular attention to the spine. We also ask you about your life— Do you eat well? Exercise at all? How do you deal with stress? Do you have children? What do you do for work? And so on.

We seek the origin of the problem
Using this information, a diagnosis is made. Included in the diagnosis is the probable reason for your pain or discomfort. It is important to note that chiropractors seek the origin of the illness in order to eliminate it-we do not simply treat the symptoms.

If your roof is leaking, do you simply catch the drips in a bucket for years on end, or do you repair the roof to prevent it from leaking? Similarly, if the migraine headache you've had all week is being caused by misaligned vertebra and an irritated nerve, do you continue to take pain killers indefinitely, or do you realign the vertebra to prevent the pain? You get the picture.

Chiropractors have a term for misalignments: subluxations. A vertebral subluxation is a misalignment of the bones that protect the spinal cord. It's a leak in the roof. Or a kink in the wiring of your nervous system.

The severity of the subluxation can vary, and there are a number of potential contributing factors that can be physical, emotional, mental, or chemical. The subluxation can be caused by any number of incidents, from birth trauma to an auto accident to simple repetition or over-use.

Dr. Peter Brockman

Dr. Peter Brockman

South Lake Wellness & Injury Center
2560 E. Hwy 50 Suite 106, Clermont, FL 34711
352.241.4111

At the age of 12 years old, I was experiencing breathing difficulties. After visiting several doctors and being diagnosed with chronic bronchitis, their only recommendations for treatment were antibiotics and inhaled medications. They granted me temporary relief but my problem was not solved.

My mother had been receiving treatment from a chiropractor in downtown Orlando for low back pain. She shared with him my problems. He suggested that she bring me in for a consultation. We had nothing to lose. My first visit was comprised of many different tests and x-rays of my entire spine. On my second visit, the doctor showed me my x-rays. He explained that my breathing problems were caused by my ribs and vertebrae not moving properly because they were misaligned. At each subsequent visit the chiropractor performed very precise adjustments to my spine. After each adjustment, he carefully checked the motion and position of my vertebrae to ensure the proper correction had been made.

After just three short weeks of treatment, I threw away my medications. I was amazed that he cured my problem by only using his hands. I had always wanted to become a doctor, but at the age of 12, I knew my destiny was to become a chiropractor!

After completing high school at West Orange, I attended the University of South Florida where I received my 4 year degree in Microbiology. I then attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in California for another 4 years where I received my Doctor of Chiropractic degree. I am also a graduate of the Spine Research Institute of San Diego where I received advanced certification for the treatment and diagnosis of whiplash associated disorders and brain traumatology . Before opening in Clermont, I practiced for 5 years in a very successful practice in South Orlando.

I am a member of the Florida Chiropractic Association, Manufacturers Association of Central Florida, and the South Lake Rotary Club. Also, I am certified to treat workers compensation injuries and have served as a consultant to several Central Florida businesses in regards to their worker’s compensation practices.

I am a chiropractor that focuses on and listens to your needs. I promise that I will carefully examine and treat you with the same precision and expertise as the doctor that changed my life. Many thanks to my now retired chiropractor.
